Recently Wyeth South Africa awarded two fellowships to the University of Cape Town. The fellowships were utilized by the university to further understand key healthcare areas with significant local importance, namely stress in pregnancy and the associated foetal infant outcomes, and insulin resistance being a risk factor for chronic kidney disease in non-diabetic hypertensive black South Africans.

These sponsorships form part of Wyeth's long history of pioneering developments in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
